Congratulations to the neighbourhood for working together again for a successful Food Drive to support Welcome Inn.

Thanks to so many people.  Most importantly thanks to everyone that donated food or money. People seemed to donate more than ever.  A special thanks to Sheri Selway for doing so much organizing including setting up all the donation locations. Peter Douglas who is a “newer” North Ender joined us for the first time this year. Scott and Kristy Reckman with their kids, Steve and Megan Suggit with their family and Deborah and our family went door to door to collect food.  Harold and Betty Baynham (pictured) donated 6 boxes of food themselves. Awesome.

Thanks to all the “Donation Locations” and also Barb and Krista from the Welcome Inn for carrying in, sorting and weighing the food.

This year we were a little hesitant going door to door with the unfortunate situation of having so many homeless encampments in our neighbourhood. We had a couple of negative comments but overall it was another wonderful neighbourhood experience. According to an Oct. 28th 2024 article in the Spectator a “Food Banks Canada” survey cites Food Banks across Canada are being used twice as much as in 2019. Sometimes all of us need a little help and The Welcome Inn is there to provide it for us.  Your support not only makes the Food Drive successful; it also makes our neighbourhood a great place to live!
