A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 22! What a fantastic day! Yard sales were everywhere, with plenty of friendly faces to chat with. One family even had their kids running a sale, offering lots of toys. Welcome Inn hosted about a dozen vendors with a variety of cool items—pet supplies, games, baby gear, household items, and clothes. Yard sales are an excellent way to pass on items you no longer need to someone who does, much better than a trip to the dump! Plus, they’re a great opportunity to meet neighbours.

Special thanks to those who donated to Welcome Inn and to the staff who volunteered their time, and thanks to Welcome Inn for providing the space!

Following the yard sale, the Block Party on Catharine Street was buzzing with activity. Despite one brief rainstorm, the weather was pretty good. There was lots of music, food, and conversation. BA Johnson was a crowd favourite, bringing plenty of laughs, while other talented musicians, including Luke Lalonde, Doobie Freaks, Dj Jan Jay and Tarek Funk, also entertained. Our very own North Ender, Jack Sterns Ley, closed out the event with a fantastic performance.

The kids had a blast with face painting and games, and one brave 4-year-old even sang at the open mic! We’re already excited for next year!

A big shout out to everyone who organized and made this event happen, especially Councilor Cameron Kroetsch for his behind-the-scenes efforts, and a special thank you to Grandad’s Donuts for their delicious donations. See you all next year!
