Hello to Everyone in the North End. This includes those who have lived here all your life, those who have moved away and all of you who have moved here and love the North End as much as I do. I have had the privilege of being on the Board of the North End Breezes, the last two years as Chair. I continue to be one of your happy dedicated volunteer door-to-door delivery people. I moved here in 2005 from the east mountain to the neighbourhood where I really wanted to live. It was the best move (of many) I ever made.
This is a unique community where people say “Hello”on the street, even to strangers, and truly care about their neighbours. People care about what is happening in the neighbourhood and care about the city. The North End has been ignored historically, at least until it became desirable because of the waterfront. But the North End is still strong. New folks continue to join our community and are adding valuable energy and ideas to the mix that has always defined the North End.
I encourage you to join the Board of the North End Breezes. The newspaper is truly a gem. Unique to the city if not (dare I say it) the province and Canada. So many newspapers have been lost. We’re on the web, Facebook, Instagram and X but the physical paper is still printing and I know how many of you enjoy it.
Take care and I’ll see you in the neighbourhood. I’ll be here til I die.
