What’s new for 2022 along the James Street North strip? Think hot, hot, hot! down ole Mexico way…..well sorta, or think of a staycation at home instead. This month’s new addition to the neighborhood finds me at the wonderfully colourful storefront of Lola’s Latin Grocery, the new ‘go to’ place for a unique shopping experience. Mesa Authentic Mexican Restaurant, established in 2015 (the best Mexican food in Hamilton) has now branched out. Only 3 stores down from each other you will find Lola’s Latin Grocery Store which opened here on December 28th 2021. Welcome!!!
l spoke to the delightful shopkeepers Veronica and her lovely daughter Jasmin and asked Veronica her motto/quote for the shop. “Mi Casa es tu Casa” translation “My house is your house”. Or “Make yourself at home”.
I asked Veronica a fond childhood memory of Mexico. “In the morning it starts with music & food and ends with food & song into the evening with family & friends”.
Upon entering Lola’s the flair and flavour of Latin American culture is apparent by the music and food. This store has all of the ingredients to prepare a meal just like that of Mesa Restaurant. Sharpen up your culinary skills and create your own Burritos, Nacho’s, Taco’s plus much, much more. The top sellers are the dry chilis and the sauces and let me tell you that they do know their sauces right down to the Scoville Pepper Scale. Lola’s also offers Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, and Halal options. So with checklist in pocket head to Lola’s Latin Grocery store for a wonderful shopping experience.
