By Daughters Kim and Tara
Our parents (Mom née Arnold, born on Ferguson Ave N in 1941 and Dad born on Mary St north of Barton) met at Bennetto elementary school and then attended Central High school. They began dating in Miss Cole’s Grade 5 class and married in 1962.
Mom’s father was close friends with well-known North Ender Pud Murphy whose parents owned Fishers. Dad’s father worked at the Malcolm and Souter Furniture Company at the corner of Barton and Mary Street.
This September, their company Oblender Insulations, located at 58 Earl St, celebrates 40 years in business, 1984-2024. Our parents, Bill and Wendy Oblender still attend The North End Reunion, they still live in Hamilton, as do their daughters, grand kids and great grandchildren.
Homegrown generations of Hamiltonians, proud to call Hamilton home.
As a couple they have done everything from Ti- Cat Season Ticket holders to boating on Lake Ontario, but their favourite pastime is to laugh while retelling stories about the North End.
Please come together at the North End reunion on September 14, Noon to 4 pm at Macassa Bay Yacht Club and celebrate two North End kids and their contribution to their city.
