According to it’s new report, the Canadian Centre for economic Analysis, Basic Income can grow Ontario’s economy $40B/year, add 287,000 jobs and end Poverty. In 1974 at the age of 14, I read an article in the New York Times on Universal Basic Income in Denmark and this coincided with my first part time job that I had started working in downtown Hamilton at the recently opened Lloyd D. Jackson Square (1972). It was my first realization that Hamilton had real poverty. I simply put 2 and 2 together; me working at a job and others panhandling in the Core who did not have a job. 47 years later, nothing has changed.
