“Being a part of the North End Breezes board for the past two years has been a privilege. The team does amazing work within the community and serves as a resource hub for all. They are committed, and most importantly, passionate about preserving the North End’s legacy, while also continuing to foster its growth. Whether you are new to the area, or a longtime resident, I encourage you to volunteer with the Breezes in some capacity if you’re able. This team is small but mighty and they are always looking for more support. I’m grateful for the relationships and community I’ve been able to build while serving on the board.

I’ll be joining Welcome Inn as the Executive Director and look forward to taking on a new role in the North End Community while staying connected to The Breezes. “

2018 was a busy year. All signs point to an equally busy 2019.

On the development front the City continues forward on its plans to redevelopment Pier 8 into a mixed-use waterfront community and a request for proposals is expected to commence for City Housing’s Jamesville townhouses early in the new year.

Along James North, construction of the Hughson Street Baptist-Indwell supportive housing project is underway and there are a couple of proposals for 8 storey residential buildings going through the City’s approval process.

On the southside of the rail corridor, two 10+ storey condominium towers are proposed adjacent to the West Harbour GO at MacNab and Stuart.

The City is also exploring the possibility of locating “creative industries” like a film studio on the Barton-Tiffany lands south of the rail yard.

We like to do fun things too. If you think NENA should organize social events in 2019 come out to our next couple of meetings with ideas and a willingness to assist if you can.

Remember we’re your neighbours and we do what we do as volunteers. More hands make lighter work. So, if you can, please lend us a hand. And together we can make 2019 another great year in the North End.
