As Fall transitions to Winter across our City, we find ourselves busy with holiday events. Work parties, holiday shopping, and family get-togethers are top of mind. As joyful and exciting as these may be, they tend to leave an opening for criminal activity to occur.
The Hamilton Police Service recently exposed a group of individuals who are attempting to take advantage of our busy lives. The suspects are organized and their plan works as follows:
The group pose as service workers by wearing bright coloured, high visibility vests and clothing. They then knock on unsuspecting homes to scout out cameras and ascertain whether anyone is actually home. If all seems quiet, they conduct a break and enter (often during the day time hours) and target jewelry and other high end items.
Areas such as Ancaster, Stoney Creek, and Waterdown have already been hit. Crime Stoppers is asking you to be aware and be vocal.
